Be your own florist at home
2009-05-19Hiring a florist to do the flower-arranging job for you can be quite expensive. And getting a ready-made and well-arranged flowers in a vase is also not cheap as well. If you have your own garden and you want to showcase your vividly colored roses, daisies, and petunias in your home, then you must learn how you could become a florist to save time and money.
Start with some ferns in your garden. This would help you give emphasis to your main flower. Small leaves (like ivy leaves) can also help in smoothening the look of the arrangement as well especially if you will be using large sized vases.
You must also use florist tapes and create a series of grids that would help your flowers to stand in the vase. This is important in giving the arrangement its overall look.
If you will be using long-stemmed flowers like roses, make sure that you take out the excess leaves at the bottom. Take out the thorns as well if there is any and cut the tip part of the flower so it can efficiently absorb water.
Place the flowers and arrange it accordingly in the grid. Afterwards, you can start adding the ferns and the small leaves that would help accentuate the flower arrangement.
